people still don't know nearly enough about human induced climate change

Light Fantastic at Stafford County Show - how it went...

Wednesday and Thursday (28-29th May) saw the first outing for the Light Fantastic trailer, home to our mobile exhibition on low energy lighting. Despite the weather, which alternated between being damp and actually raining, we had a lot of interest on the first day, and gave out almost a thousand low energy lightbulbs to show-goers. This impressive total was smashed on the second day, when we gave out nearly two thousand low energy bulbs, thanks partly to the warmer (and sunnier) weather. By the end of the second day we had given out all of the bulbs we had with us, so the numbers would be even higher if we had had more bulbs to give away. We also distributed several hundred energy saving powerdown devices, and lots of leaflets and advice.

The public response was very positive on the whole, and it was encouraging how many people already had replaced most or all of their incandescent bulbs with CFL's. The bulbs we gave away could generate lifetime CO2 savings of 450 tonnes, and annual financial savings of almost £9500 (at current energy prices..).

We are taking the Light Fantastic exhibition out again to the Climate Change Festival in Centenary Square in Birmingham, so look out for us there!
